On December 12th of 2023 Frances Yvonne Brown (Wells, Cole, Feist) was called home to be with the Lord and Savior.  She was surrounded by family as she crossed over.

Yvonne was born in Fairfield, Texas April 28, 1935 where her great-grandfather Tolbert Fannin Young, MD founded the nearby town of Young, Texas.  The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1937 into the Park Place area and attended Park Place Baptist Church.  She was the middle child.  She had an older sister LaWanda and younger brother Joe.  She attended Milby High School and graduated in 1953.  She married Johnny Wells in 1955 and had one daughter Diane in 1960.

She worked as a secretary for Van Waters and Rogers and at Baylor Hospital and excelled in shorthand.  She remarried Brent Cole in 1965 and lived in Fort Worth for about a year and a half before moving to Pearland in 1969 where she lived the remainder of her life.  She worked for the family business Pipeline Dredging in Pearland that her aunt Frances Adams founded in 1968; which later became Continental Dredging.  Yvonne retired as company President when it closed in 2011.

She married again in 1984 to Ray Feist and had 2 stepchildren whom she adored Raymond and Jennifer.  They loved to go camping, hunting and fishing and Yvonne enjoyed the outdoors during this part of her life.

Yvonne was a devout Christian who truly loved the Lord.  Selfless service was her passion.  She had many causes she supported and gave her all to and to name a few:

·       A lifetime Lions Club member – dedicated and 100% devoted to this cause

·       Made audio books for the blind with her voice – little known fact

·       Supported and delivered Meals on Wheels

·       Past member of Republican Women

·       EMS ambulance driver and EMT – late 70s, early 80s (where she met Phillip Peevey who was the police department dispatcher; a lot of funny banter between those crews.

Yvonne had many hobbies.  In her earlier days she loved to travel, collect Windberg prints, did crafting and she was an excellent cook.  She made recipe books for many family members of her favorite recipes.  Her favorite late life passion was Mah-Jongg and played a couple of times a week.  She played Bridge and Hand and Foot (cards) regularly as well and even though she would say she wasn't "competitive" she did like to WIN.  She passed her secrets only on to close friends and family.  She was a voracious reader a trait she passed on to her family.

If you knew Yvonne you know she never had a hair out of place.  She rose every morning, said her devotions and "dressed."  Dressed isn't what most people did.  Dressed for her meant coiffed hair, full makeup, outfits with matching jewelry ensembles and her beautiful smile.  No matter whether she was going to an event at the country club or just to the grocery store; she was ready.

Yvonne loved her church.  They were a huge part of her family.  She studied the Bible, attended Sunday School, was in the choir and supported the church and their many causes.

She is survived by her brother Joe Brown (Janet), daughter Diane Lynne Holliday (Gene) and granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth O'Neall (fiancé Paul Talley); stepson Raymond Feist and his children McKenzie and Christian; stepdaughter Jennifer Feist and her daughter Aubrie Park and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents Irene Powell and JW Brown, her sister LaWanda Brown (Worthen) in 1970 and her grandson Cameron O'Neall in 2020.  She had two aunts – Frances Powell (Adams) and Mary Lynn Powell (Welch) who she remained very close to her entire life.

The service celebrating Yvonne's life will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Peevey Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
