William (Bill) Richard Taylor, age 76, of Houston, Texas, left this earth on September 4, 2022 to be with his Lord. He suffered greatly over the past four years. His numerous health issues confined him to multiple hospitals, rehabs, and skilled nursing facilities for the greater part of these later years. He truly fought the good fight, and finally could fight no longer. He is finally walking again…this time on streets of gold!

Bill was born February 27, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas to Margaret and Paul Taylor. He was the middle child of three, with an older brother, Paul Jr, and a younger sister, Kathy Ann. His family later moved to Houston where he grew up in and around the Northshore area. He graduated from Galena Park High School in 1964. He later began his "college career" attending numerous universities. He was a star athlete receiving scholarships to Blinn, North Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, and Louisiana College. Later he attended and graduated from the University of Houston where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.

He met his wife, Linnell, in New Braunfels in the fall of 1974. The two were married in June of 1975 in Belton, Texas. They were blessed by adoption in 1981 when God sent them their one and only son, Ryan Scott Taylor. He was their pride and joy and was loved beyond measure. Both Bill and Linnell were teachers in Pasadena for thirty years. Bill taught Science and also coached a number of sports at Jackson, Miller, Pasadena, and finally Thompson.

He couldn't wait to tell his students (and later his nurses) any silly joke he could come up with. He loved sports and as he neared retirement, golf became a favorite hobby. He and his friends would leave early in the morning and head out for their favorite course. They would arrive home hours later after stopping for lunch or dinner along the way!

Movies were another favorite pastime! He would head out to the theater on Day 1 after a new release hit the box office! After waiting in line for popcorn and a Diet Coke, he was set for the afternoon!

Bill and Linnell attended Sagemont Church and met many dear friends in their church family there. They attended worship and I Connect Bible Studies as long as Bill was well enough to attend.

Preceding him in passing were his mother, father, and brother.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Linnell; his son, Ryan Taylor (Karen) of Riverside, California; Five granddaughters, who were the light of his life; Ari Sprague, Emma Sprague, Lyric Taylor, Elektra Taylor, and Nolan Taylor; sister, Kathy Taylor of Richmond; also his mother in law, sisters in law, brothers in law, a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, church family, and Sophie Grace, his precious fur baby.

He will be missed beyond measure, but we are comforted that he is no longer suffering and rests safe in the arms of Jesus.

The visitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home (12440 Beamer Rd., Houston 77089) on Saturday, September 10, at 3:00pm. The service will follow at 4:00pm.
