William "Bill" Floyd Palmer, 82, of Galveston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025. Born on October 30, 1942, in Houston, Texas, Bill was the beloved son of Grace Lenora McKee Palmer and Meril Efford Palmer.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by love, service, and a deep connection to the water. He is preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings — Herman, Muriel "Elois", Leslie "Lucky", and Michael "Mickey" — and his beloved wife of over 60 years, Loretta Standlee Palmer. Together, Bill and Loretta raised three daughters: Christina "Tina" Davis, Elois Palmer, and Samantha Leahy. They had immense pride in their seven grandchildren and found great joy in watching their eleven great-grandchildren grow.

A proud veteran, Bill served in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster during the Vietnam War. His love of the water carried through his life, leading to a long and accomplished career in the Merchant Marines and as a Seagoing Tugboat Captain, a role he held for over 40 years. His career took him to many wondrous places, but Bill was particularly delighted to spend the last three years admiring the view of Galveston Bay while sipping his morning coffee and spending time with his daughter, Tina, and son-in-law, Rex.

Captain Bill will be remembered for his unwavering warmth and love for his family, his service to his country, and his lifelong bond with the sea. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The service honoring Bill's life will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
