William "Sonny" Jackson, 89, of Pearland passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, August 15, 2022. He was born April 21,1933 in Troup, Texas to his late parents, Verney Jackson and Roberta Whitesides Jackson and was one of nine children.

Sonny moved with his family to Highlands as a child, where he graduated from Robert E. Lee Senior High School in 1950. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1950 to 1954. He retired from Monsanto in the early 1990's.

In his retirement, he enjoyed a love of gardening (sharing the fruits of his labors with family and friends), fishing, woodworking, and bowling. Visiting and helping family, friends, and neighbors was a favorite past time as well. He perfected the most juicy and tender brisket which he shared at family gatherings. He also happily babysat his grandkids and attended their various school and extracurricular activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil ""Bootsie"" Jackson, James Jackson, R. L. Jackson and Douglas Jackson and sisters, Janis Adams and JoAnn Schmidt.

Survivors include daughters and their significant others, Sylvia Jackson and Jeff Gosnell, Cindy Griffin and Mack Sanjak, and Penny Garcia and her husband John Paul Garcia; sisters, Melba Williams and Betty Lou Erwin; grandchildren, Sunnie Humphries, Rhys Griffin, Hali McLarrin, Melanie and Jonathan Garcia; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Lillyanna, Levi, Stella and Axel; and extended family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers for the kindness and compassion they showed Mr. Sonny while attending to him during the progression of his Alzheimer's.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, August 22, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Peevey Funeral Home. A private interment will follow service at Forest Park East Cemetery.
