On Monday, July 7, 2025, William "Robert" Harris, 75, passed away peacefully at HCA Clear Lake, with his beloved wife, Chris, and son, Spencer, by his side.

Robert was born in Texas City, TX to William Henry "Bill" Harris and Lula Mae King, their only child.

Robert was a devoted and loving son. After the sudden passing of his father, he took exceptional care of his mother, Mae. The two shared a deep and enduring bond—Robert checked on her daily, shared many meals during the week, and enjoyed vacationing together.

Robert grew up in Texas City and spent much of his childhood working and helping out at his mom and pop's gas station and convenience store. Robert graduated from Texas City High School and soon thereafter was drafted for the Vietnam War. To serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. His service took him to Biloxi, Sacramento, Thailand, and Pensacola. After six years of dedicated duty, Robert was honorably discharged.

Robert enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with LBC that spanned nearly 45 years. He began as a runner with Anchor Tank, later relocating to Louisiana to serve as Traffic Manager. A few years afterward, he returned to Texas to take on the role of IT Manager. Throughout his tenure, Robert worked across multiple departments and held numerous leadership positions, leaving a lasting impact on the company and his colleagues.

Throughout his sons' childhoods, Robert was deeply involved in their lives and activities. With Tony and Larry, he not only coached their Little League baseball teams but also served as league president and official, dedicating his time to supporting the community. When Michael was young, Robert introduced him to bowling—a passion that took root in youth leagues and continues to this day, with Michael excelling in the sport. As the youngest, Spencer had his dad's constant encouragement—whether at karate practices and tournaments, school events, or on the football field, Robert was always there, cheering him on. He shared a unique and special bond with each of his sons. Above all, Robert was a devoted and loving father.

Robert enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge - LaMarque. He held various leadership positions, participated in numerous activities, enjoyed the frequent dances and formal events and made many good friends over the years.

Robert was a man of many talents and interests. He could sew, cook, repair cars, planes, and computers, play the piano, and had a real gift for woodworking. He loved bowling, attending concerts, fishing, boating, gardening, and visiting theme parks with his grandchildren. Whether dancing at Mickey Gilley's or playing cards and dominoes with friends, Robert brought joy and energy to every moment. He had an eclectic taste in food, movies, and TV—and could often be found rewatching Top Gun, The Andy Griffith Show, or laughing along with a classic Steve Martin or Will Ferrell comedy.

Robert loved to travel and shared many memorable family trips to destinations across Europe, the Bahamas, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, and throughout the United States. He especially loved a good road trip—whether near or far—but cruising was his absolute favorite!

Robert was a devout Texas City High School football fan. He was a season ticket holder for many years until his youngest son started playing for First Baptist Christian Academy. He did all he could to be at every single game and most practices!

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved 10 year old son Larry Wayne, and his dear Uncle Bob.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chris; his sons Tony (Tracy), Michael, and Spencer; and three cherished grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. One of Robert's most treasured memories was carrying little Emily in his arms along the San Antonio Riverwalk. He took great pride in following Ryan's progress in the band, beaming with pride when Ryan went on to become a band director. Robert and John shared a special bond over their mutual love of tinkering, gadgets, and all things technology. Above all, Robert was fiercely proud of his entire family and loved them deeply.
