William "Bill" Flanders passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on February 4, 2023 in Brookside Village, Texas. Bill was born in Edinburg, Texas on September 29, 1932 to the late Fred and Leithe Flanders.

Bill attended Texas Southern University, where he met his roommate Stu Wilding. Bill was introduced to Stu's sister Jessie Wilding and they soon fell in love. They married on April 25, 1955 and had three children. Bill and Jessie divorced around 1986 and Bill married Claudelle Goodwin in 1994.

Bill is survived by his two sisters Jeanne "Jinx" Manning and Carol Barnhouse. His daughter Jill Diane Flanders, son Bob and wife Danee' Flanders. His grandchildren: Kassie Ragan and husband David Ragan, Heather Dillon and James Anderson. Great grandchildren: Kolton, Dracen, Karson, Jasper and Dazie.

With his marriage to Claudelle, he gained four children: Diane Baiwec, George, Johnny and Virgil Goodwin. He also gained 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Dustin and Destiny two of the grandchildren lived with Pawpaw and Mawmaw (their only living grandparents) for a while and built a close bond between them that would last the rest of his life.

Bill is preceded in death by his brother Robert Flanders and his son Mitchell Reed Flanders.

One of his favorite childhood memories was his mother mailing him cookies while he was in an academy school. He loved Astroworld, his Father's beach home, Wimberley, puzzles, tinkering with gadgets, BBQing, Sunday school at Sagemont Church and hot rod cars. He always had to look under the hood of your new vehicle and take it for a test drive to see how fast it could go. He liked to take the kids for a joyride and occasionally a stiff drink.

He was very proud of Mitch when he won a trophy for jumping hurdles.

One of his accomplishments was adding on to his home himself. He sold that home and with the money he bought a home in Brookside Texas that he would spend the rest of his life in.

We would like to express our gratitude to the devoted care takers that helped us for two years. Bob's wife Danee' who also brought groceries and supplies. Lori Jackson and those that filled in; Destiny and Jesse Jackson, Kim Overall and Trinity Hospice.

The celebration of life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Sunday, February 12, at 2:00 pm.
