William Roy "Bill/Fuzzy" Bezdek, 80, died peacefully with his wife "Mac" holding his hand on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in Kindred Hospital, Webster. Bill rested the final weeks of his life, surrounded by family and friends, following a cardiac arrest.

Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marcia "Mac" Bezdek, and twin goddaughters, Alyssa (Andy) Harris and Alicia McWashington. Throughout their lives, Bill was like a father to them, loving them as if they were his own. He also adored Alyssa's two young children, Jayce and Hunter; and reveled in his role as their "Papa Bill." He also is survived by his sister, Barbara "Totsy" Durham; brothers, Johnnie Bezdek, Jr., Robert Bezdek (Ann), and Richard Bezdek (Stuart); and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Johnnie Bezdek, Sr. and Georgia née Wygrys Bezdek, and his brother, James Bezdek.

Bill was born April 5th, 1946 in Pasadena, Texas. He attended St. Pius Catholic Elementary School, and was a graduate of Pasadena High School and Sam Houston State University, where Bill was a proud alumnus of the Epsilon Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He worked as a custom homebuilder for 40 years, overseeing the building of over 400 homes in the Pasadena-Clear Lake area. He retired in 2021 after having completed the revitalization and remodeling of the historic Bob Harris Station Post Office in Pasadena, one of Bill's proudest accomplishments.

Bill's passion in life was community service. He served as Life Director and Past President of the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, presiding over the rodeo's 50th anniversary. He was also appointed Director over the inception of the PLS&R Championship Bar-B-Q Cook-Off in 1983, which he oversaw every year until his retirement from the rodeo some 20 years later. Bill served as Commander, Senior Vice, and Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 194 multiple times; helping Veterans navigate the VA system. He also worked tirelessly through the years on numerous local political campaigns/elections.

Bill was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the United States Army, and was a Life Member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He helped veterans navigate the VA system while serving as Commander, Senior Vice, and Adjutant of Chapter 194 of the Disabled American Veterans. He previously held a seat on the Board of Directors for the Bridge Over Troubled Waters Domestic Abuse Treatment Center. Having been appointed by the mayor in 1995, Bill served on both the Pasadena Building and Standards and the Planning Commissions, two positions he valued and enjoyed until his death.

The family wishes to recognize with heartfelt gratitude the doctors, nurses and staff of The Methodist Clear Lake, The Methodist Med Center, and The Kindred Hospitals for their professionalism, empathy and unwavering kindness during these very difficult and sad weeks. We are also grateful to the doctors and staff of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and a very special thanks to Bill's longtime Methodist neurologist, Dr. Glenn Smith, and his staff and the wonderful nurses of West Pavillion, Floor 9.

Bill's viewing, and visitation with the family, will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am. Military honors will begin the service at 11:00am., Monday, August 17, 2026 at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas (peeveyfunerals.com). Burial will follow at 1:15pm  at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.

Bill's legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will be carried on by those who knew and loved him.
