Wesley Hyatt Swift, 47, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, after suffering a stroke the week before. Wes was born on July 23, 1975, in Pasadena, Texas, to Alice Lynn Williams Swift and Robert Louis Swift. He lived most of his life in the Greater Houston area, graduating from Clear Brook High School in 1993, then earning his bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Texas A&M University in 1997 and an MBA from the University of Houston in 2012.

Wes will be remembered for his quick wit and keen sense of humor. He made friends everywhere he went and always appreciated diversity in thought and experience. Wes was a loyal colleague, most recently working as an associate editor for S&P Global as part of their agriculture pricing team. He previously spent many years in the newspaper business with the Galveston County Daily News and Houston Community Newspapers.

An avid reader, Wes never stopped learning. Whether it was language lessons to learn Mandarin, trying new recipes or taking up woodworking, he loved to try new things. Wes loved movies, history, live music and, most notably, trivia. He led trivia on Tuesday nights and often quizzed his coworkers as he prepared questions for that evening. He also loved animals, especially his two cats Callie and Castor.

Wes is survived by his parents, his sister Alicen, uncle Carl Williams (Roxanne) of Three Rivers, Texas; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service for Wes will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 1:00 p.m. at The Story Church (4910 Montrose Blvd). In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to make gifts to the Wesley H. Swift '97 Memorial Scholarship at Texas A&M University.
