Wayne was born on November 4th, 1946 at the beginning of the baby boom. He was the son of a gifted jokester and the ultimate hostess. He inherited both of those traits.

After graduating from Milby High School he attended Lamar University where he met DJ. Soon after, Kim was born in Austin and they moved to Pasadena where Wayne started a career at Moore Paper Company. It was there that he found his passion for sales.

Wayne and Kay had known each other for most of their lives where they grew up at Park Place United Methodist Church, but became a couple and married on August 3, 1991. At that time he inherited another daughter, Kristin. They lived in Highland Village, TX for 12 years. In 2003 they returned to Houston to be closer to friends and family.

In 2016 Wayne became a grandfather. He adored Hannah(6) and Joseph(4) and enjoyed the special head "boops" and high fives that he shared with them.

He enjoyed Aunt Pauline's famous banana pudding, which became Kay's, and he was a skilled fireworks technician and show director. Wayne was moved by all sorts of music, as long as he could sing it using his shoe as a microphone, and a fine night of country two step dancing with Kay gave him great joy.

In 2014, Wayne was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He met this challenge with the same attitude that he had most of his life: one of humor and grace. Despite this hurdle in his way, Wayne still managed to bring joy and laughter to those who cared for him.

Wayne was a man that many described as on the nicest people hey had ever met. If you knew Wayne Shoffit, you knew a friend. He was always kind, true to self, and had a joke or story on hand to make you smile. Fishing, board games, and playing cards gave him hours of entertainment. He was always down for a friendly competition which he would gladly keep score for you. On Sunday afternoons you could find him in front of the TV, enjoying any type of sport he could find. He cheered loudest for his Dallas Cowboys.

Wayne left this world for his spiritual home on April 11, 2023. He was surrounded by his family and covered in prayer.

Wayne touched countless lives during his 76 years, many that he only knew briefly. Hopefully, those of us lucky to have him in our lives for years and years would be wise to take a lesson from the Wayne Shoffit handbook and be bold enough to make a friend of everyone we meet. The world will be a sadder place without Wayne in it, but the memories that we shared will be forever in our hearts.

We miss you.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Jearl and Anne. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kay, his daughters Kim and Kristin(Tim), and his precious grandchildren Hannah and Joseph. His brother, Roger(Annie) his niece Sara(Chris), his nephew, Jonathan(Lena) will miss is presence, along with countless friends that he made his family.
