Umphis "Emery" Warren Clark, husband, father, grandfather, faithful friend and continual witness to the love of Jesus Christ, went home to His Lord and Savior on June 9, 2024 at the age of 76.  Emery spent his life dedicated to His Savior, his beloved family, and his church community. Known as a wise and Godly man, Emery's counsel and care were sought by many and freely given. His faith and his dedication to serving others were the cornerstones of his life.

Born on July 19, 1947, in Marengo County, Alabama to the late Katharine C. Clark Batchelor and Umphis Clark, Jr. Emery graduated from Satsuma High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Airforce Force in 1965 and bravely served in the Vietnam War, but not before he found the love of his life Anita Hightower. Emery and Anita began their courtship just before he shipped out to Vietnam and their love endured the time and distance.  They married on December 23rd, 1967 and together they raised three daughters, Tara, Katie and Angie. He attended Louisiana Tech University, graduating in 1973. He then began his professional life as a chemical operator at Arco Chemical.  These years were beautifully oriented around church and home, and their community at Sagemont Church became like family. After retiring from Arco Chemical Company Emery began his second career, working as the Director of Trinity Oaks Senior Living, followed by his work as Facilities Director at Sagemont church. All the while, his heart and passion continued to reflect the love of Jesus no matter what he was doing, and this was made most evident in how he related to and loved others.

Emery loved his family! His love for Anita was limitless, and he journaled that "being with Anita made the "Son" shine in my heart." He loved his daughters fiercely, and they knew they could turn to him for Godly counsel. To his granddaughters, nieces and nephews, he was "Umpy", they brought so much delight to his life.

Emery is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita. His three daughters, Tara Morgan (husband Dean) of Friendswood, TX, Katie Ford (husband Jeff) of Boerne, TX, and Angie Clark of Pearland, TX; his granddaughters Reese and Mollie; his sisters Avis (husband Ronnie) Beasley, Christine (husband Mike) Finerty; nieces and nephews Andrea Mitchell, Rebecca Wallace, Ronnie Beasley, Jr., Jennifer Smelser, Michelle Finley, and many great nieces and nephews. Emery is preceded in death by loving father Calvin Bachelor and sister Judy Newton.

A celebration of Emery's life will be held at 11:00am., June 13th, at Peevey Funeral Home in Houston, TX. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00am. Emery will be laid to rest in a family service at the Veteran's, Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Emery's legacy of love, strength, wisdom, and faithfulness touched the lives of so many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
