Sylvia Webre Wolford, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Sylvia was born in Houston, Texas on the 8th of August 1929. She was the second youngest of 11 children born to Ethel Posey Webre and Camille Joseph Webre.

Sylvia was a life long, devout Catholic; very much in love with the Lord and celebrated her love of Jesus and Mary with everyone she encountered.

Raising a family and being a full-time mother is what Sylvia enjoyed the most. Being one of the youngest in a large family, Sylvia had very fond memories and knew she wanted a large family of her own.

A few years after the end of World War II, Sylvia met the love of her life, Albert Marion Wolford Jr., and they married October 14, 1951. Albert and Sylvia eventually had four children of their own. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Marion Wolford Jr. and daughter Martha Anne Wolford. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Wolford Walling and husband Arthur of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Margaret Wolford Harmon and husband Jon of Houston, Texas; and son Albert M. Wolford III and wife Christy of Houston, Texas. She was also a loving and proud grandmother and great grandmother to Christopher Walling; Eleanor Walling Bower and husband Matthew; Grant Nippler; Paul Lloyd Tanner; Lauren Wolford; Albert Alexander Wolford; Everett Wolford; Lucas Wolford; Kaylee Harmon and Alice Bower.

Outside of raising a large family and being a full-time Mom, Sylvia enjoyed volunteer work, playing bridge, traveling and entertaining many friends and family. She loved cooking, keeping house and caring for her loved ones. She and Albert loved to dance and go to Texas football games and Astros baseball games. In her late years, she went to mass and adoration frequently until she could no longer drive.

Sylvia was a magnet for anyone seeking the Lord or anyone who needed help. Her generosity and Catholic community activism was unparalleled in the Memorial and Galleria areas of Houston.

Funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 beginning at 10:00 am for the Rosary and 10:30am for Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas 77079. Services will be conducted by Rev. R. Troy Gately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Mary’s Seminary at 9845 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.
