Sylvia Ada Gant Gadd, 82 of Houston, Texas passed away on November 25, 2025 surrounded by family. Sylvia was born on September 13, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Ado and Barbara Gant. Sylvia was the fourth of five children.

Sylvia attended Milby High School, where she was a proud member of the Milby COE Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. Sylvia played the drums and could be seen tapping her fingers to the beat of any music she heard. Sylvia loved music that crossed many genres and learned to play the piano in her thirties.

Sylvia married the love of her life, William Curtis Gadd Sr (Bill), in 1964.  Together, they built a warm and loving home for their four children. While Bill coached their sons in Little League, Sylvia could be found cheering them on from the bleachers. She was a proud mom and did not miss a single game. Even after giving birth to her youngest child, she simply packed her newborn baby up and watched from the safety of their truck camper. Sylvia and Bill would often host family BBQ's and Sunday lunches. They both shared the same family values and loved family time the most.

After Bill's passing in 1978, Sylvia started her professional career. Sylvia went to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWB) Company as a file clerk. She advanced her position through the years until reaching the drafting engineering department. Sylvia was an active member of the Pioneer Club. She would often donate her time and resources by making and giving away dolls and other toys during the annual Christmas Doll Drive. After a long and successful career, Sylvia retired from the same company (SWB), which is not very common in today's environment. She was a loyal and dedicated employee.

Sylvia was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Sylvia's biggest joy in life was going out to eat with her family, and would go every chance she could. Sylvia attended most every birthday dinner, ordering appetizers for everyone and often a dessert! She would probably say Mexican Food was her favorite, but would not turn down some good seafood, Indian Food, or Chinese Food.

Sylvia really enjoyed live productions. It didn't matter if it was a high school performance of one of her kids, grandkids, or a musical in the Houston Theater District. She just loved the music. Her favorite professional performance was CATS. She was simply amazed with the make-up and costumes. For several years, Sylvia enjoyed going to see the Nutcracker followed by dinner at Birraporetti's with the baby of the family, Teri.

Although Sylvia was a single Mom, working full-time while raising her four children, she went back to school and earned her Associate of Arts Degree from San Jacinto College, setting a wonderful example for all.

Sylvia enjoyed spending time at her parents' place in the Hill Country, sitting around the campfire. She also loved spending weekends in Galveston, sunbathing on the beach, and eating fine seafood on the seawall.

Sylvia enjoyed many different hobbies. She dabbled in oil painting and painted some beautiful pictures. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Sylvia was very generous with her talents, gifting most everything she created away. When Sylvia started having grandkids, she would make them either a quilt, an afghan, or a receiving blanket. She organized a 50th wedding anniversary quilt for her parents, coordinating with all family members to design a block, and had it sent back to her to stitch together. It was a monumental task and an heirloom that will be passed on from generation to generation.

Sylvia and her longtime partner, fiancé, and best friend Ron, enjoyed a quieter life at home. They took turns doating on each other over the years. Sylvia often said how she was so happy she had Ron in her life, and appreciated all the love and affection he would give her. Ron says that Sylvia was his best friend and credits her for giving him the best years of his life. Ron finds comfort these days in studying and reading from Sylvia's bible.

Sylvia's children credit their mother greatly for the success of their lives. She taught them life lessons with an unwavering love she poured into them, strived to be a shining example of what strength is, and the definition of what being a survivor looks like.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her precious son William Curtis Gadd Jr. (Bill), her parents Barbara and Ado, and three of her siblings, Barbara Estelle, Burton Lee and Milburn Sylvoy.

Sylvia is survived by her long-term fiancé and best friend, Ron, her children Wynne Gadd (Chuck), Tim Gadd (Nancy) Teri Posey (John), and daughter-in-law Louise Gadd. Grandchildren, Adam Barnhart (Jessica), Amberly Dalton (Jeff), Nichole Beltran (Eddy), Ryan Gadd (Liz), Mack Posey (Gabie), Katie Perez (David), Kayla Posey (Charlie), Elizabeth Gadd, James Gadd. Fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, her sister Foy Moore (Rick), and a host of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, at 1:00pm, the service will begin a 2:00pm., at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, Tx 77089. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
