On January 9th of 2023 the beautiful and sassy Stella Chavez Magallanes passed away at her home peacefully. She was born in Webb County on April 22, 1931 to parents Gregorio Chavez and Martina Martinez Chavez.

She spent her early life in San Antonio where she went to high school then worked in drafting at Tobin. She then moved to Los Angeles where she met and married Anastacio Magallanes and had her three children, Yolanda, Nancy, and Richard. She later moved with her family to Houston where she enjoyed working for the Houston Independent School district for over 35 years.

Stella is survived by her children and son in laws Jeremy Walton and Ken Shoen. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephen Cox, Ashlyn Williams, Jennifer Cox, and partner Johnnie Moore, including Alexandria and Reyane Magallanes. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Alex, Maleah and Sebastian. She will be greatly missed by her extended family from Texas to California.

Stella's other passions along the years included being team mom for her kids' little league teams, socializing with her school friends and loving her many cats. She also enjoyed word searches and cheering "Josesito" Altuve and the Astros on television. She was very patriotic and proud to be an American. She will be remembered for her love of music and her loud laughter but mostly for her patience, tenacity and love.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Saturday, January 14, at 2:00pm., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
