Mom always told us she read the obituaries every day to make sure she wasn't in them.

Well, Mom… today is your day.

Shirley Ann Kielman (Grammy), 83, of Deer Park, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 12, 1942, Shirley lived a life filled with devotion to family, hard work, compassion, and joy. She attended South Houston High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. In 1964, on June 6th, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Bill Kielman, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and dedication.

Shirley was a proud mother to her daughter, Sherri Lyn Means, and son-in-law, Louie Means. She was a loving grandmother to Connor Means and his wife, Kate Means, and Collin Means and his wife, Taylor Means. Her greatest joy came from being "Great-Grammy" to Madison Estelle Means and Parker William Means, who brought endless happiness to her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Boehning, husband Bill Kielman and her granddaughter, Katelyn Ann Means.

Throughout her life, Shirley worked many jobs that reflected her strong work ethic and caring spirit. She worked for the light company, taught driver's education, and ultimately found her home at Deer Park High School, where she served as attendance clerk and registrar until her retirement in 1999. She made lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless students and families throughout her career.

Shirley had many passions that made life beautiful. She loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and hosting family gatherings that always made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her yard was one of her proudest accomplishments and was recognized many times as "Yard of the Month."

She also had a tremendous love for animals. Together, she and Bill rescued and cared for numerous animals from local shelters, giving them loving homes and second chances.

Above all else, Shirley treasured her family. She created a home filled with warmth, kindness, laughter, and unconditional love — a legacy that will continue through the generations she adored.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will forever live on in the memories she created, the lives she touched, and the family she cherished so dearly.

The service honoring Shirley's life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089.
