Shirley Ann Ulrich Duke, age 88 passed away on January 15, 2024, after several years of battling dementia.

Shirley was born June 17, 1935, in Houston, Texas to William and Hilda Ulrich.  Shirley was recently preceded by her husband of 61 years on August 12, 2023.

Shirley is survived by her daughter; Therese Crawford, son; Billy Duke and his wife Lori, Grandchildren Lauren Hector, Shannon Shaw, and husband Kade,

Kristin Wescoat, and husband Tyler and their son Oliver, Kelci Crawford, Travis Duke and wife Makenzie and Adam Duke.  She was an amazing grand mommy to all her grandkids and the best mother anyone could ask for.

Shirley grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Milby High School.  After graduating, she worked for Gulf Oil in Houston for several years.

She met the love of her life James Allen Duke at the Breezeway Inn in Houston and were married on November 22, 1962.  In the late 60's Shirley and Jim moved to Pearland, Texas where they shared 61 wonderful years together.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.  She was active in her community volunteering in Meals on Wheels, attended Christian Women's and enjoyed working petting zoo's during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She loved helping at the Smart Shop in Pearland where she helped fund her love of fashion.  In addition, she enjoyed babysitting on the side and was a wonderful "Nana" as well.

Shirley and Jim loved to travel the world and cruising was their genuine passion.  They travelled overseas to Europe on many occasions as well as over 50 cruises to multiple locations.

Hawaii was one of their favorite vacations spots which they managed to visit every year for over 10 years.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm Friday, February 9, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home.
