Shirley Jean Berry passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 88 in her home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Known for a heart of service, Shirley dedicated her life to her family. She was the devoted wife of Gary Lynn Berry for over 68 years and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.

Born on February 18, 1937, in Bell County, Texas, Shirley married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Gary, in 1956. The family eventually moved to Commerce, Texas where they welcomed their son David, and then later to Tyler, Texas, where they welcomed son Joel, before ultimately settling in Deer Park, Texas and welcoming their third child, Scott.

After moving to Deer Park, Shirley began her career as an elementary school teacher, spending most of her teaching time at Golden Acres Elementary in Pasadena ISD, a role she held for 25 years. She and Gary were active and faithful members of First Baptist Church of Pasadena for over 40 years and were deeply involved with their Sunday school class.

Whether it was cooking dinner for her extended family, visiting with her sisters, playing bunko, going on cruises with friends, or being an active volunteer at her church, Shirley made a positive impact on the lives of so many.

Shirley is survived by her loving family, including her husband Gary, her children David, Joel and Scott (Jorey), grandchildren Hunter (Megan), Aiden, and Connor (Madison), great-grandchildren Hayden and Madden, and dear family friend Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents Hoyet and Elizabeth Lewis, sisters Hilda, Dorothy, and Joy, and brother Don.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Pasadena with a memorial service immediately to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Pasadena.
