Our mom, Sherril Diane Denbow Wilson, formerly Griffith, was born on January 24, 1949, in Bay City, Texas, and passed on May 24, 2025, at home in Houston. She is survived by her husband, Dace Wilson, and her children, Mikki and David Sauer, Steven Griffith, Mitzi Griffith and Sophie Wilson, and grandchildren Madelyn and Carson Sauer, Brittany Griffith, Kylie Griffith, Charlee Griffith, Kade Adams, Kane Olvera and Kole Olvera, Quincy Herold, Julian Herold, Sky Herold and Luna Herold and great‐grandchildren Holly Davant, Hutson and Holden Gregg and Amelia Pesina, brother Forrest Denbow and wife Cindy and sister Rebecca Krobot and husband Kenneth and their families and mother‐in‐law Renelda Weise and sister‐in‐law Charlene Carter.

Sherry was preceded in death by her late husband, Roy Griffith, and her parents, Bill Denbow, Leona Denbow and Murrel Denbow. Sherry grew up in Van Vleck, Texas, where she graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1967 and married Roy Griffith a month after graduation. She was a twirler in high school and was always a terrific dancer with beautiful grace and rhythm. She later taught baton lessons, even fire baton, and shared that skill with her students. She coached little league cheerleading for the Van Vleck Cowboys cheer squad. She also taught Girls in Action for a time at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, where she was a member for much of her adult life.

Sherry loved being around children and loved all of our many friends who spent time at our house when we were growing up. She could tell a great ghost story, pierced a few ears for our friends and gave multiple perms when that was the thing to do. She loved to play games, particularly cards and dominoes with her family and bingo with her friends.

Sherry was mostly a stay‐at‐home mom, but she did have more than a few jobs over the years, preferably ones where she got a chance to talk to lots of people. After the passing of our father, she moved to Houston, where she later married her husband of the last 30 years, Dace Wilson. During her time in Houston, she continued to be a "grandma" to many of the kids who lived in her neighborhood. She made many friends and loved to take walks and talk to the neighbors and going out to eat with Dace and chatting it up with anyone she came across.

Anyone who spent time with Sherry knew one of her greatest loves was Elvis Presley. One of her most‐treasured memories was getting to see him in the Astrodome, and she would be happy to tell you all about it. If you ever weren't sure what to get her for a gift, if it had anything to do with Elvis, it was a sure bet. She loved all of his songs, but his Gospel album was always her favorite.

In her later years, Sherry developed dementia which became increasingly worse. One of the blessings, however, was that she seemed to always be happy and oblivious to whatever problems may be happening in the world around her. She didn't have to suffer the anger and sorrow that can come with that sad disease. We are thankful for that.

Sherry was saved, and we know she is now with our Lord and restored. Although her memory failed, she still remembered the words to Amazing Grace when it was played, words stored safely in her heart where we keep our most precious memories of all, the place where we will keep all our memories of her.

A memorial service will be held for Sherry at Cedar Lane Baptist Church on Friday, June 6, at 3 p.m., 12586 FM 457, Bay City, Texas. Please join us in remembering and celebrating her life.
