Seferino "Chano" Salinas Sr., lovingly known to family and friends as "Seferin" or "Sef," passed away on May 4, 2026, in Pearland, Texas, at the age of 66. He was born on November 20, 1959, in Karnes City, Texas, to Presiliano Salinas and Rose Ramirez Salinas, both of whom preceded him in death.

Seferino lived a life defined by dedication, strength, service, and deep love for his family. A proud retired First Sergeant of the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army, he served his country with honor, bravery, and distinction. Known affectionately within his unit as "Top Dog," Seferino carried himself with the discipline, loyalty, and integrity that defined his military career. His service was a tremendous source of pride, and the leadership he demonstrated throughout his years in uniform remained evident in every aspect of his life. He will be remembered not only for his service to his nation, but also for the dependability, generosity, and charisma he showed to everyone who knew him.

Above all else, Seferino was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He lovingly cared for his parents throughout their lives and always made family his highest priority. He is survived by his sons, Seferino Salinas Jr. and Sam Salinas, with whom he spent his last years in Houston, Texas; his beloved grandchildren, Diego Salinas and Ariana Salinas; his brothers, Norman Salinas, Presiliano Salinas Jr., and Ray Rossett; along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Seferino was known as a hardworking man with a serious demeanor, but beneath that exterior was a noble heart and a willingness to help anyone in need. He took great pride in everything he did, whether maintaining his lawn, caring for his vehicles, or spending time riding and admiring his beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. One of his greatest companions was his loyal dog, Harley, who brought him immense joy.

Though he will be deeply missed, Seferino's legacy will continue to live on through his family and all whose lives he touched.

The funeral service will be held, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one our prior to the service, at Peevey Funeral Home,12440 Beamer Rd. in Houston, Texas. A private burial will take place at a later date, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved parents.
