Sedera "Vera" Quiroga, 94, of Houston,Texas, passed away on December 13th, surrounded by her loving family.

Vera was born February 9, 1931, in Waelder, Texas, the daughter of Atanacio Martinez and Maria Garcia. She was the eldest of 19 siblings.

Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 56 years Armando Quiroga.  Together they had 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her 4 children Armando (Elia), Alma Rosa (Esteban †), Esau (Rosa Maria †) and Horacio as well as Grandchildren: Sandra Gomez (Pablo †), Ely Hobbick (Christopher), Jennifer Claussen (Jeff), Cyndi Cantu (Brian), Esau Quiroga, Diego Quiroga, Marc Quiroga (Rachael) and Great-Grandchildren: Stephanie Gomez, Daniel Gomez, Hayden Hobbick, Adrian Gomez (Kyara), Kaylee Hobbick, Alma Baumgardner Cantu, and Alec Baumgardner Cantu.

She is preceded in death by her parents Atanacio Martinez and Maria Garcia, her daughter in law Rosa Maria Quiroga, son in law Esteban Cantu, and infant grand-daughter Yanett del Jesus Cantu.

Vera built a beautiful life with her husband, Armando. Quite literally in some ways, jointly running a furniture building and upholstery business for many years. But for Vera, her most treasured venture was to create a home of warmth and never-ending hospitality. She loved and healed us through her cooking. Her kitchen table was a gathering place, where we shared countless meals, but also where we received her sage advice and encouragement. She was our loudest cheerleader, fiercest advocate, and grounding comfort.

She leaves a lasting legacy of unconditional love and a home full of laughter.  Raise your tequila and sip it in honor of our beloved Vera.

Vera nació el 9 de febrero de 1931 en Waelder, Texas, hija de Atanacio Martínez y María García. Fue la mayor de 19 hermanos.

A Vera le precedió en la muerte su amado esposo, Armando Quiroga, con quien estuvo casada más de 56 años. Juntos tuvieron 4 hijos, 8 nietos y 7 bisnietos. Le sobreviven sus cuatro hijos: Armando (Elia), Alma Rosa (Esteban †), Esaú (Rosa María †) y Horacio, así como sus nietos: Sandra Gómez (Pablo †), Ely Hobbick (Christopher), Jennifer Claussen (Jeff), Cyndi Cantú (Brian), Esaú Quiroga, Diego Quiroga, Marc Quiroga (Rachael) y sus bisnietos: Stephanie Gómez, Daniel Gómez, Hayden Hobbick, Adrián Gómez (Kyara), Kaylee Hobbick, Alma Baumgardner Cantú y Alec Baumgardner Cantú.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres: Atanacio Martínez y María García; su nuera: Rosa María Quiroga; su yerno: Esteban Cantú; y su nieta, Yanett del Jesús Cantú.

Vera construyó una vida hermosa con su esposo, Armando. Establecieron, dirigieron y juntos disfrutaron de su negocio de fabricación de muebles y tapicería durante muchos años. Pero para Vera, su proyecto más preciado fue crear un hogar de calidez y hospitalidad.

Vera, nuestra Madre, nos amó y nos sanó con su cocina. Su mesa era un lugar de encuentro, donde compartimos innumerables comidas, pero también donde recibíamos sus sabios consejos y aliento. Fue nuestra mayor animadora, nuestra defensora más ferviente y nuestro consuelo reconfortante.

Deja un legado imborrable de amor incondicional y un hogar lleno de risas. Brindemos con un buen tequila y bebámoslo en honor a nuestra querida Vera!
