Sammie Bogan was born April 27, 1941, in Taylor, TX.  He recently passed away at the age of 83.  Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Leon and Edith Odell Bogan, his brother John Bogan, his wife, Mary Frances Snedeker Bogan, and his son Richard Bogan.  He is survived by his son Robert Bogan and his wife, Amy Klassen, and children Drew and Maddie Bogan, as well as his daughter, Mary Collins, her husband Eric Collins, and their three children, Joshua, Matthew, and Michael Collins.

Sammie graduated from Milby High School in 1959, married Mary Frances, then joined the Army where he worked as a clerk.  His service included being stationed in multiple places, including Germany and being stationed in Alaska for 3 years.  Immediately upon leaving the Army, he became an apprentice in the Pipefitters Local 211 Union to become a pipefitter.  At the time of his death, he had been a member of the union for 57 years!

Sammie's hobbies included carpentry work where he built furniture, lamps, and anything else you can think of!  In his later years he loved to do word puzzles and watch The Big Bang Theory.  He cared more about his grandchildren than anything.  The highlight of his day was taking the kids to school and picking them up after school. He would always question them about their day and joke with them, as he did with everyone.

Sammie was such a loving and caring husband, father, papa, and friend to all.  He will be missed by many.  Sammie and his family lived in the South Belt area since 1973.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 4, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Peevey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 5, at 6:30pm, also at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at Forest Park Lawndale.
