Ronald Leldon New, loving husband, father, grandfather went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 29, 2024, after a valiant 3-year battle against cancer. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on December 22, 1944, to Esther Mae (Miculka) and Robert Leldon New. Ron met the love of his life, Joan Marie Gregory, in 1969 and it didn't take them long to know they were meant for each other. They married on November 15, 1969. Together they created a life full of love and joy and were blessed with five beautiful children. In his early years Ron enjoyed working as a computer programmer for NASA. He was privileged to have worked on many space exploration projects, spanning from the first manned mission to the moon all the way to early programming for the International Space Station.

Throughout his life Ron found joy in several hobbies including playing the guitar, photography, wood working, bird watching, ferroequinology, utilizing his green thumb growing plumerias, and loved a good game of dominoes and cards. But nothing filled his heart with more joy than watching any one of his grandkid's activities.

Those that knew Ron knew that he was one of the kindest souls to ever walk this Earth. His patience knew no bounds. He never met a stranger and had a smile that stretched all the way to his eyes. He always knew when you needed a shoulder to lean on and he was an excellent listener. And he absolutely never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his adoring parents, Esther Mae (Miculka) and Robert Leldon New, and Father-in-law Archie Gregory.

He is survived by his loving wife Joan Marie (Gregory) New, son Kevin New and wife Amy, daughter Amanda Johnson and husband Josh, son Gregory New and wife Lindsey, and sons Joshua New and Daniel New; Grandchildren Scott New, Noah Johnson, Henry New, Gabriel Johnson, Kinley New, and Hallie New; Mother-in-law Otillia Gregory; Aunts Mary Lou Gohn and Jeanette Goodwin; and numerous loving family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, February 10, at Peevey Funeral Home.  A Rosary is scheduled at 9:30am. Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by a celebration of life at 11:00am.
