Roger Allen Holub, age 54, of Houston, Texas died at Park Plaza Hospital due to heart surgery complications on February 2nd. Services are pending at this time at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road in Houston and at a later date at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg, Texas.

Roger was born on October 12, 1968 in Freeport, Texas. His parents are Carolyn Genzer Friend and the late Wilson August Holub. He received his GED. His vocation was that of engine mechanic whether it was gas, diesel or small engine repair. A trade he learned from his father in which they both excelled. He was single at the time of his death. Roger was an avid talker and enjoyed meeting new people. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed social gatherings. His past times were playing pool, darts, and watching National Geographic and the History channels on television. (Heaven forbid if his mom was watching a Hallmark movie. He would go scurrying back to his room.) He also liked bantering with his brother of the heart, Brian Kelly, honorary big sister, Misty Hudson and his mom's best friend, Lisa Steward. He also truly liked to help others.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Genzer Friend; step-mother, Nina Holub; and half-brother, Richard of Los Angeles, California; honorary big sister Misty Hudson and husband Melvin; and honorary brother, Brian Kelly. Other survivors include an aunt, Bunny Genzer; honorary aunt and uncle, Mike and Lisa Steward; cousins Anthony Genzer and son A.J. Genzer; Nicholas Genzer and wife, Maggie and daughters Ellie and Averie; Joyce Floyd and son Gaelan Gilbert and wife Anna, all of the Houston, Porter and Kingwood areas; Larry Fillip of Schulenburg; and Roger's former wife, Christina Melchor also of Schulenburg as well as many friends in Schulenburg, Houston, and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson August Holub; step-father, Marvin "Charlie" Friend; step-brother, James Billy Friend; maternal grandfather, Alfons J. Genzer; maternal grandmother, Betty Genzer Walchar; paternal grandfather, Joseph Holub; maternal grandmother, Mary Jurak Holub; and younger brother, Russell Adam Holub.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, February 16, 2023, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at 11:00am Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Schulenburg, Texas.
