Rodney Glenn Melton, age 69, passed away very unexpectedly at CHI St. Luke's Health-Patients Medical Center on Saturday, January 1, 2022 with his wife and his two sons by his side. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leslie Melton; sons, Zachary (Ashley) and Harmon Melton; grandsons, Mikey and Eli Melton; Sister, Pat Rogers; Brother, Rusty (Patsy) Melton; and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard and Mildred Melton.

In his younger years Rodney grew up in Houston later moving to Sheldon where he graduated from CE King High School. He attended San Jacinto College for one year before beginning to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone which led to a long career in telecommunications. Though he could not play any musical instrument (yes, he tried) he played a heck of a mean stereo and had a true passion for music, especially prog rock. He was also an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction books as well as comics books. Besides music and reading he had a special place in his heart for his hometown Houston sports teams. He was very excited when the Astros won the 2019 World Series returning to the big game in 2021. He would say that he wished he could have shared the experience with his dad who taught him to love the game.

Visitation will be at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd, Houston, TX 77089 on Monday, January 10th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 816 Park Dr, La Porte, TX 77571 at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 11th. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7801 Gulf Freeway. Dickinson, Texas, 77539.
