Robert Louis Swift of La Porte, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 2, at the age of 80. Born January 9, 1946, in Pasadena, Texas, to Ernest and Marianna Swift, Robert was a lifelong resident of the Houston area.

Robert graduated from Pasadena High School and attended San Jacinto College before enlisting in the United States Army. He was a proud Vietnam-era veteran and flew the American flag on his home year-round.

On New Year's Eve 1968, a friend set Robert up on a date with Alice Lynn Williams, who would become the love of his life. He and Alice married in July 1970 and were married just shy of 56 years when he passed away. They had two children, Wesley and Alicen, who were the light of Robert's life.

Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. He was a proud Aggie Dad and more days than not could be found sporting a Texas A&M hat or shirt. He was also an avid golfer and played golf at least once a week for many years. He loved to bake and was always searching for new recipes to try. He will be best remembered for his pound cake, which was a special request at many gatherings and celebrations.

Robert is preceded in death by his son Wesley, his parents, and all five of his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Alice, his daughter Alicen, brother-in-law Carl Williams and his wife Roxanne, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 2:00 pm at The Story Church, 3223 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX  77098.
