Richard "Richie" Lee Bland, age 76, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. He was an only child born to Cora and Earl Bland on August 3, 1949 in Miami, Oklahoma.

Richie was preceded in death by his parents, and Honorary brothers Horace, John E and Montey Blackmon.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and life partner Ronda, and his daughter, mother–in-law Dianna Sobala, brother-in-law Ron Sobala, Aunt and Uncle-in-law Pris and Jerry Mouton.  Many cousins-in-law whom he adored and friends who were more like family.

Richie lived in Houston since the age of 5.  He graduated from Milby High School. He lived in the Southbelt area for over 45 years.

He worked at Spectrum Corp., a scoreboard and marquee company, for more than 40 years, serving in a variety of roles throughout his distinguished career. Richie was not only a dedicated employee, but also a loyal friend and teammate.

An avid sportsman, he spent more than 30 years playing league and tournament fastpitch softball, participating in several bowling leagues in Pasadena, and competing in local, state, and national bowling tournaments. He also cherished the annual "family" snow skiing trips that became a beloved tradition for over three decades.

Known to make you laugh and smile.  He made friendships wherever he went. Richie was known to be witty, dependable, trustworthy, and loving.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Peevey Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life will also be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 1:00pm.

The burial will be private for family and close friends.

While his family and friends mourn his passing, they find comfort in knowing he is now at peace. His memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
