Richard Robson Hart, known as Dick Hart to all, was 82 when he passed away in Houston on April 5, 2024. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on June 2, 1941 to Jay Curtis Hart and Doris (Robson) Hart and grew up in York, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A proud alumnus of William Penn Sr. High School in York, he graduated in 1959 and was dedicated to continuing his education in electronics at Penn State Extension – York and the University of Houston. His love of electronics paved the way for him to embark on his first job at York television station WSVA, further instilling in him a lifelong interest in technology.  Dick served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964, supporting the armed services as an aircraft maintenance technician. His tours of duty as an Airman First Class took him to Air Force bases at Lackland, Laughlin, and Keesler before being honorably discharged at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Following his service, he had a long career as an electronics technician for Texas Instruments, Raytheon, Welex – Haliburton Division, and Lockheed Electronics at NASA before retiring after 25 years at Schlumberger.

At the heart of Dick's world was his family, whom he truly cherished. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary (Stone) Hart; daughters Holly (Hart) Moran and Robin (Hart) Prouse; sons-in-law Todd Moran and Richard Prouse; grandchildren Ross Moran and his wife Kathleen Lindsey Moran, Price Moran, and Emila Prouse; and sister Linda (Hart) Dingman and her husband Charles Dingman. He always looked forward to spending time with his family, sharing his hobbies and entertaining them with stories of his experiences.  Dick's love of Lionel trains was legendary. When he was a little boy, his grandfather gifted him with his first set of Lionel trains which sparked a life-long passion. He had a vast collection of trains and train accessories. He also enjoyed tinkering with his collection of John Deere toy tractors and flying remote-controlled airplanes.

Dick was well known for his love of deviled eggs. He could often be found sneaking into the kitchen to pick up a few extra. He loved Italian food – especially spaghetti, sweet bologna, meatloaf, corn fritters, chicken fried steak, his parents' home-made lemon velvet ice cream, Luling City Market sausage, and was always on the search for the best tuna sandwich. Over the years he would say he greatly missed the restaurant at Woolworth's department store, where he would get a table in the picture windows overlooking the mall and enjoy their sandwiches.

He loved the joys of Christmas, from the warmth of family gatherings and the twinkle of holiday lights, to the festiveness in the air and the train layouts he enjoyed arranging under the tree each year.  Dick was known to all as a kindhearted gentleman who leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 17, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the funeral service will begin at 11:00AM, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd, Houston, TX 77089. The committal service will follow at Forest Park East cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
