It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Renee Tawil, who passed peacefully surrounded by her son and daughter on October 9, 2024, at the age of 94.

Born on April 24, 1930, to Lemuel H. Harvill and Ruth Etta Burkhalter Harvill at Shawnee Prairie near Huntington, Texas, Renee was raised in a large family with 13 children. The Harvill family was known for their hard work and love, often singing on their way to church in a Model-T truck. Renee later moved to Houston, Texas, where she met her future husband, Fuad Tawil, a handsome Christian man from Jerusalem, on a blind date. They enjoyed a loving marriage of 33 years and raised three children together.

Renee was renowned for her Middle Eastern and Southern cooking, and she had a passion for bowling, achieving an impressive average of 156 and a high game of 248 well into her eighties. She also enjoyed crafts, gardening, and fellowship with others. Renee contributed significantly to her community by coordinating craft show events for Sagemont, supporting senior events and trips.

She is survived by her son Alan Tawil and wife Lori Tawil, daughter Diane Tawil, granddaughter Holly Tawil, grandson Jordan Tawil and wife Meaghan Tawil, great-grandsons Jordan, Jr. Tawil and Jacob Tawil, and great-granddaughter Mae Tawil. Renee was preceded in death by her husband, Fuad Tawil, son, Randy Tawil, and her siblings Claris Davis, Audrey Stephens, Armatha Jones, Bernice McGaughey, Iva Ahrens, Ruth Smith, Doris Wedgeworth, Betty Perdue, Clarence Harvill, J.B. Harvill, Lloyd Harvill, and Doyle Harvill.

The family will welcome friends at 11am, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd., Houston, TX 77089, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
