Raymond Ruiz Martinez Jr. was born on October 31, 1950. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucy; his daughter, Irene (husband Jerry); his grandchildren, Brandon and Mia; his brother Ruben (wife Lisa); brother Johnny (wife Karen); sister Minnie (late husband Andy); brother Louie (wife Cyndi); sister Ventura (husband Rick); brother Phillip (wife Mary); sister Martha (husband Bob); and many nieces and nephews as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

After 24 years of surpassing all odds of living with cancer, Raymond passed away at home in Houston on May 6, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Sr. and Mary; brother Eddie; sister Frances; brother Cruz; and niece Danielle.

Raymond was a devoted husband and father, loving grandfather, and caring brother. He loved spending time with all of his family.

He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone willing to listen.

Raymond's greatest joy was being a grandfather. Everyone could see his eyes light up when he had the chance to speak about his grandchildren.

A great sense of loss is felt among his family and friends. His memory will continue to be cherished and our hearts will remain full of love for him.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, May 11, 2026, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089. Mass will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5430 W. Ridgecreek Drive, Houston, TX 77053. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
