Ray Dickson Willis, husband, father, and grandfather went home to His Lord and Savior on July 3, 2024. Ray was known for loving his family and his church.  He had the gift of helps and was often found helping others who needed house/car repairs and serving in his church for over 50 years.

Ray was born on October 7, 1930, in Shreveport, LA and was adopted as an infant by the late George R. Willis and Susie Whitley Willis.  His family moved to the Houston area during his middle school years.  Ray dropped out of high school to join the Navy and served on the USS Tucson and an Owen DD536 Destroyer.  His last year of enlistment was during the Korean War.  After his enlistment, Ray finished high school in the evenings while working at a local grocery store as a stock boy.  He was also a member of Broadway Baptist Church where he met the love of his life Jeanette M. Rankin.  They were married for 50 years and had two daughters, Holly and Marcy.  Shortly after graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree, Ray moved his family to the Sagemont area where he resided for 52 years.  Ray led his family to join Sagemont church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school director, and Bible study teacher for over 45 years.

Ray is survived by his daughters Holly Wallis (husband Ken) of Cleburne, Tx and Marcy Pittman (husband Randy) of Alvin, Tx; his grandson Jordon Wallis (wife Erika), granddaughters Katie Wallis and Abigail Baylis; great grandchildren Lydia and Luke Wallis.  Ray also has 2 bonus granddaughters Meagan Henry (husband Caleb) and Kayla Martin (husband Ryan) and 4 bonus great grandchildren Greyson Henry, Layken Henry, Bryleigh Martin and Braelynn Martin.  Ray is preceded in death by his parents George and Susie Willis and his beautiful wife of 50 years, Jeanette R. Willis.

Ray often told the story of how his mother and grandparents raised him to have faith in Christ and how he was so thankful that he was adopted into this family because without them he wouldn't have been shown the salvation of Jesus.

isitation will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Saturday, July 13, from 10:00am until 12:00pm, a graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1:00pm.
