Pearlean Lamb Hanson passed away peacefully at home on the 27th of December, 2022, with her loving son-in-law at her side. Pearl was called home to be with her Lord and Savior just eight days shy of her 99th birthday.

Pearl was born in Bedford County, North Carolina on January, 4th, 1924 to loving parents Richard and Maggie Lamb.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Almeda, Maxine, Minnie, and Mildred, her brother, Earl, and half-brother Henderson; her former husbands, Charles Hanson, and Fred Driskell; her step-son, Daniel Hanson; and her daughter, Sally Hanson Bracewell.

She is survived by her youngest sister Doris, and her half-brother Sterling; her step sons Lloyd and Roger Hanson, Danielle Gonzalez, who she was a grandmother to; her son-in-law Mark Bracewell, and her Granddaughter Chelsea Hughes.

Pearl attended Atlantic Christian College, and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education.

She had a strong passion for education and began her teaching career in her home state of North Carolina in 1948, and continued teaching after moving to Houston in 1963. She had a wonderful, long career as a teacher. Pearl always had a special place in her heart for her students, and talked about them often. She taught various ages and at multiple schools over a 40 year career! She was truly a remarkable woman.

Pearl was a devout Christian and extremely proud member of Kirkwood South Christian Church. She deeply valued the fellowship and Church family she had there, and was devoted to serving her community. Long after Pearl was physically able to attend Church, she continued to express her faith by keeping up her monthly tithe to make sure her spiritual home could continue their good work.

One of Pearl's greatest joys in life was being a Mother to Sally, and Grandmother (also known lovingly as "Memal") to Chelsea. Pearl made sure her loved ones never wanted for anything, and delighted in gifting all that she could to them. Chelsea and Pearl had a very special relationship, and Chelsea will never forget all of the games of dominos, checkers and cards they played, or all of the episodes of Walker Texas Ranger they watched together.

She was a very welcoming and charitable person, and would take people in who needed a home. Her son-in-law, Mark, remembers her allowing him and her daughter Sally to live with her when they were young, in love, and trying to make their way in life.

All of her family are so grateful for her love and support and attribute their successes to her and her kindness. She was so loved and will be deeply missed "always, and for forever."

Pearl's family will host a Celebration of Life and reception on Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at 11am at Kirkwood South Christian Church, 10811 Kirkfair Dr, Houston, TX 77089.
