Patricia Hampton McDowell passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023, she was 78 years old. She lived a full and eventful life and will be missed by all that knew her.

Patricia was born December 20, 1944, to Mabern A. & Wanda (Hammack) Hampton in Amarillo, TX, the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janet Lynn Huene, her parents, and all of her siblings Beverly, Iva, Lloyd and Tony. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jim; her daughter Kelly Patterson and husband Craig, and grandchildren Christopher, Kaitlyn, and Connor; her son in law Jon Huene, and grandsons Noah and Eli; daughter Elaine Erdem and husband Altan, and grandchildren Joshua and Caroline; and many other family and friends who will miss her greatly.

Patricia, known as Pat to her friends, graduated Odessa Permian High School in 1962 and shortly thereafter moved to Houston, Texas. Within 3 years she met her husband Jim and after a brief courtship, they were married on February 4, 1966. Over the next 30 years, Patty, as Jim affectionally called her, relocated to many different cities throughout the United States and Caribbean due to job transfers tied to Jim's career in the oil and gas industry. During this time, they made many happy memories and expanded their family as they welcomed their 3 daughters- Kelly, Janet, and Elaine, who were each born in a different state. While they lived in many different places, they both always considered Houston to be home and returned to the house they purchased in the Clear Lake area after each job transfer was completed, settling there for good upon retirement.

Those who knew Pat well know of her deep faith in Jesus, her love of scripture, and her devotion to prayer. For it was the power of prayer and her faith in the Lord that helped her through many difficult times including a battle with breast cancer in 2012, severe illness due to sepsis in 2017, and toughest of all being the loss of her beloved daughter Janet due to cancer in December 2020. She regularly attended Grace Church with her husband and was a member of both the prayer team and the joy senior class. One of the highlights of her week was attending church services where she could enjoy the praise music, listen to the sermon, and fellowship with her many friends followed by a date with her loving husband at either Abe's, Angelo's, or Topwater Grill, three of their favorite restaurants.

She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother whose daughters will always lovingly appreciate her knack for interior design and her talent for elegant decorating that always made holidays special.

Visitation for Pat will be held at Peevey Funeral and Cremation located at 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089 on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am with her Funeral Service immediately following. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas.

In lieu of floral tributes, floral contributions in Patricia's name may be made to the Grace Vision Fund of Grace Church Houston.
