It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nell Turk who left us on July 28, 2024. Born on November 29, 1949, Nell lived a life full of love, kindness, and compassion where she knew no strangers.

Twenty-six years ago, Nell lost her beloved husband and the love of her life, Frances L "Bud" Turk. Though the years have passed, her love for him remained steadfast, and she often spoke of the wonderful times they shared together.

Nell was known for her unwavering love for dogs. She dedicated much of her time to caring for her furry friends, finding joy and companionship in their presence. Her home was always filled with the pitter-patter of paws and the warmth of wagging tails.

Though she had no children of her own, Nell was a cherished aunt, friend, and neighbor. She touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and generous heart. Her home was a sanctuary for friends and family, where laughter and love were abundant.

Nell will be remembered for her resilience, her kindness, and her boundless love for animals and people. Nell owned and operated her own secretarial service called Superior Systems until 2001 when she joined Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corporation until her retirement in 2022.  During this time, she served on the Texas Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies Conference Planning Committee, served as a member of the Advisory Board for eHomeAmerica, and was a founding board member for Pasadena Spay & Neuter Assistance Program.  Nell was named the Odyssey Chapter's winner of the 2003 American Business Women's Association Woman of the Year.  She was also a proud board member of Project Joy and Hope, an organization that provides housing to families with terminally ill children when seeking treatment, helping families remain stable and intact at this challenging time in their lives.  Her impact was honored by naming a home for these families "Nell's Nest," a true testament to her life.  Her legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of those two legged and four legged friends who she loved and loved her.

Nell is preceded in death by her husband, Frances L "Bud" Turk of La Porte, Texas; her parents Otto Lee and Jo Ann Beckman of Pasadena, Texas.  Nell is survived by her loving sister Elaine Little and her husband James of Porter, Texas; her niece Jo Ann Warwick and her husband David of Porter, Texas; her nephew Jason Little and his wife Lindsay of Melissa, Texas; and her great nieces Caroline Little (her birthday twin), Olivia Little, Vivian Warwick, and Harper Little--and her sole great nephew Truman Little.  Last and certainly not least, Nell is survived by all her wonderful friends and supporters.  She loved you all so much.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on August 17, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church in Pasadena, Texas.  Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Project Joy and Hope for Texas (3207 Tulip St, Pasadena, TX 77504), reflecting Nell's love of people.

On behalf of Nell, her family would like to extend a special thank you to her Oncologist Dr. Polly Niravath for her guidance on this path until the very end and her sweet neighbor Jeanette Montalvo, who was always there to help.  Thank you as well to the ladies that cared for her during her time in Hospice.  All of Nell's providers and friends took very good care of her, and we are eternally grateful for your compassion and love for Nell.

Rest in peace, Nell Turk. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
