Michael (Mike) Edward Roark of Deer Park, TX passed away on August 27th, 2023. Mike was born on May 18, 1957 in Meridian, TX. Mike attended Galena Park H.S. and went on to earn a degree in Journalism at the University of Houston. During College he was a member of the U of H marching band and the Cougar Brass. He put himself through college while working at Parkers Brothers concrete company, where he also developed fluency as a Spanish speaker. While Mike worked briefly as a writer for the Texas Tribune, he worked alongside his father-in-law, Brent Cole, launching his first business, Mike's motor company which he ran for over 10 years. Eventually, Mike channeled his love of classic cars into his next business - Camaro Country - which he owned and operated for over 30 years. During this time Mike cultivated a reputation in the classic car community as a skilled mechanic with a great sense of humor, even working alongside his daughter Leslie to restore a 69' SS Camaro over several summers.

Mike's passions were studying World War II history and racing cars with his brother, Curt, and his brother- in- law Brad. He loved going to swap meets for the great deals and socializing, but above all spending time with his dad.

In more recent years, Mike loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He also enjoyed rooting for the Astros with Brendel.

Mike was a follower and disciple of Christ, directing a Sunday school department at First Baptist Church of Pasadena and teaching Sunday school classes at Bayshore Baptist.

In his later years, even amidst struggles with his health, Mike clinged to his love of socializing and connecting with others, never questioning his faith, and always finding moments of levity and humor.

Mike is survived by his wife Brendel of 44 years, daughter Leslie and husband Brandon, their children Sephora, Lilia, Aaliyah, Asher, Maia, Noah, and Gideon of Wichita Falls, TX and his son, Collin, of San Antonio. He is also survived by brother Curt Roark (wife Kelly), sister Lora Roark, his brother- in- law, Brad and wife Cindy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Curtis, and his mother, Theda.

A memorial service will be held at South Main Baptist Church 4300 E. Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena TX. Friday, September 1st, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service.
