Mary Kay Gray Sollock, 84, of Clear Lake, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. Born on March 6, 1942, in Houston, Texas, Mary Kay lived a life defined by unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a remarkable commitment to caring for others.

Mary Kay graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1959 before earning her Registered Nursing degree from Baptist Hospital of Beaumont in 1962. At just twenty years old, she began what would become a 56-year nursing career, serving patients in both hospital and home health settings until her retirement at the age of 76. Nursing was never simply a profession for Mary Kay. It was an extension of who she was. She possessed a calm presence that reassured those around her, and she cared for countless individuals with compassion, dignity, and grace during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

In 1976, she married the love of her life, Charles Truitt Sollock. Together they built a home centered on faith, family, and service, sharing fifty years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and steadfast devotion. Whether cheering on the University of Houston Cougars, celebrating her beloved Houston Astros, or simply spending time surrounded by their children and grandchildren, Mary Kay found her greatest joy in the people she loved most. She was present for every important moment in the lives of her children and grandchildren, faithfully showing up with love, encouragement, and quiet support. They always knew they could count on her, and her steadfast presence became one of life's greatest gifts to those she loved.

A devoted Christian, Mary Kay was an active member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena for more than fifty years. Her faith was not something she simply professed but something she faithfully lived each day. She lovingly served in the church nursery's Bed Babies department for more than twenty years, helping care for generations of young children. She also faithfully served for many years as a Girls in Action (GA) and Acteens leader, encouraging young women to grow in their faith while nurturing a lifelong love for missions and serving others. Her quiet, consistent service reflected the heart of a woman who believed that even the smallest acts of kindness could have an eternal impact.

Those who knew Mary Kay will remember her as a steady and comforting presence. She was gracious, gentle, and calm, always willing to listen, offer encouragement, or lend a helping hand. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel cared for, whether they were family, friends, patients, neighbors, or complete strangers. Her life was a beautiful example of selflessness, humility, and unconditional love.

Mary Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Truitt Sollock; her parents, Virginia Gray Lawless and Jimmie Harold Gray; her brothers, Harold Gray and Jimmie Lee Gray; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Satterwhite.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Elizabeth Wills and her husband, Ron; Russell Sollock and his wife, Tracey; and Taylor Sollock. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Isabelle Wills, Luke Wills, Kylie Wills, and Keaton Wills, and Peyton Sollock, and a joyful great-grandmother to Anthony Leyva. She is also survived by her siblings, Jane Logan and her husband, Charley; Billie Ellis and her husband, Bob; and Ed Gray and his wife, Helen; her brother-in-law, Ed Satterwhite; along with many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of Mary Kay's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Peevey Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the South Main Baptist Church Nursery or Missions Ministry, causes that reflect Mary Kay's lifelong commitment to caring for children and sharing God's love through service.

Although her family grieves the loss of her gentle presence, they find comfort in knowing that her faith has become sight and that she has been joyfully reunited with Charles. The compassion she shared, the lives she touched, and the love she so freely gave will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
