On March 9th, 2024, Mary Lena Smith passed peacefully after a 15-year battle with Dementia. Her pain was no more, her body and mind restored to new again. A loving reunion took place as she was welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of her momma, daddy, husband George, and her son Curt.

Mary was born in Elkhart, Texas, on the 22nd of April 1938 to Bill and Opal Murdock. She was the second of three children. In 1975, she along with her husband George and four boys moved to Sagemont where she lived until her passing. She lived and loved her simple life. She worked in retail until retirement. She loved to dance and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She attended Sagemont Church and later found her church home at New Hope Church in Friendswood.

Mary always had a smile on her face and kind and loving words for everyone she met. She loved being a mother and Grandmother and she was a true blessing to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her brothers Billy and Frank Murdock, their wives Francis and Bertha Murdock, her sons Thom, Matt, and Chris Smith. Her Grandchildren Cameron, Deven, Mattie, Jake, Logan, Aiden, Vincent, and several Great Grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Bill and Opal Murdock, former husband George Smith and her son Curt Smith.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Monday, March 18th, at 6:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service.
