Mary Ellen McNeill Morgan, a longtime resident of the Houston Southbelt area, was born on August 23, 1940, in Gonzales, Texas, to Martin Luther McNeill and Merle Greer McNeill. She passed away on September 16, 2026, at the age of 86.

Mary attended Nazareth Academy in Victoria, Texas. A devoted Catholic, she was a founding member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

On May 2, 1958, Mary married her beloved husband, Larry Morgan, in Victoria, Texas. Together, they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Mary worked many years for Statewide Signal while also working as a self-employed bookkeeper for many faithful clients.

Mary found great joy in life's simple blessings. She loved cooking, attending church each week, and gathering with family for backyard barbecues. She also had a lifelong love for her dogs. Above all, Mary treasured her family, including her grandson, Justin, who was the light of her life.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Morgan; her daughter, Elizabeth Eckols (Tim); her son, Tommy Morgan; her grandson, Justin Eckols; her brother-in-law, Ronnie Painter; her nephews, Dr. John Lee McNeil and Mark McNeill; her nieces, Connie Stoneburner and Ronna Gross; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Morgan Jr.; her brother, John McNeill; and her sisters-in-law, Francis McNeill and Bette Painter.

Mary will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, her devotion to her family, her warm hospitality, and the countless cherished memories she created. Her love, kindness, and gentle presence touched the lives of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, the joy she brought to her family and friends will continue to live on in their hearts and in the memories they hold dear.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Mary on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road, Houston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Mary will be laid to rest on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 1009 East Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, Texas. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m.
