Marian Jones Rouse of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born in Carthage, Texas, September 20, 1932, daughter of Charles and Dora Lou Jones, and the sixth of seven children. She attended Ball High School in Galveston, Texas and studied at Durham College. In 1949 she married the love of her life and companion for 61 years Ed Rouse. Together they had two children.

Marian and Ed were long-time residents of Clear Lake City, Texas. They were active members of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena where they participated in various church ministries. Marian loved the Lord and found purpose in helping others. She welcomed many into her home including exchange students from other countries.

Marian loved adventure and often traveled to foreign lands with family or members of her church. She never let the fear of the unknown keep her from exploring new places or learning about different cultures. Her travels through Europe included Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Germany. Other intriguing destinations included the Holy Land, Russia, China, and Japan. She made her most memorable trip visiting countries in Africa with her son Doug.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and each one in turn was unique and very special to her. All have great memories of time spent at the lake house, rafting the rapids, camping, fishing, having picnics, taking excursions to many locations throughout Texas, and sightseeing much of the US. She loved tradition and made celebrating birthdays and the holidays very special.

Marian was always keenly interested in gardening and after completing the training to become a Master Gardner she spent countless hours volunteering and sharing her knowledge with others in her community. She made new friends easily everywhere she went and took great pleasure staying in touch with many of them through the years. She will be missed by all.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Ed Rouse, her son Douglas Rouse, her sister Adele Bivens, her brothers Walter, June, Rex, Johnny and Rodney Jones. Surviving Marian is her daughter Patricia VanAken (Jerry), daughter-in-law Susan Jordan (Dan), grandchildren Brian Rouse (Lee), his sons Keagen and Kaden (Marian's great grandsons), Nathan Rouse, and Dana VanAken Leusner (Christopher). She is also survived by her cherished niece Carolyn Milutin, her husband Lewis and family, and other nieces and nephews.

A service to give thanks to God for watching over her all these years will be held Wednesday, October 13, at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598.
