It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marcia Lucille Grimes Balch. Lucille went home to her Lord in Heaven Monday August 8, 2022. She was born July 19, 1946 in Lufkin, Texas. Her parents were James Winford Grimes and Marceile McDuffie Grimes. She grew up with her two sisters, Barbara Sue and Dorothy Joan.

She grew up in Houston where she met and married the love of her life, Arthur Alfred Balch Jr. October 10th 2022 would have been their 59th wedding anniversary. She was a loving mother to their 4 sons Ronald Charles, Michael Shannon, David Allen and Darryl Wayne. She was very active in their lives as a Cub Scout den mother, Little League score keeper, PTA board member and consummate taxi driver. She had many friends, who were also young mothers, and they helped raise each others children.

After the boys were older, she worked at a variety of jobs including owning her own Tea Room, exterminating homes, driving a school bus, and worked for the Pearland Post Office for over 20 years where she developed many lifelong friends.

Lucille loved the Lord and had many close christian friends. She had strong beliefs and stood up for what she considered right. She was a strong women and a mentor to many young women.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Barbara Sue and step-brother Harold Spurlock. She is survived by her loving husband Arthur Alfred; her younger sister Dorothy Joan Gay and her husband Allen Gay. Sons, Ronald, Micheal and wife Kathy, David and wife Dawn, Darryl and wife Jennifer. Grandchildren: Chantel and her husband Devin Morelli; Amanda Lucero; Nicholas,Victoria, Elizabeth, and Alex Balch; Dylan Balch and wife Alysha; Josh Asam and wife Christine; Nicole Fuerte and husband Alberto; Aryanna and Samantha Balch. Three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Monday August 15, at 12:00pm., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
