Ruby Marcella "Nonnie" Harris, our loving Mother and Grandmother, went to be with Jesus on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at the age of 102, just shy of her 103rd birthday in May.

Born on May 13th, 1922 in Palestine, Texas to Robert and Fannie Hughes, residing in the Pasadena, Houston area, Marcella's life was filled with love and laughter and an adoring family. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life.

Marcella touched the lives of so many people. As former owner of Weddings by Marcella and SouthWinds, "A Wedding Place" she was involved in hundreds of weddings and catering events, sharing in the happy occasions. A master seamstress she could beautifully design and create just about anything. A member of the Pasadena -Hadano, Japan Sister City program, Marcella and late husband Jimmy, traveled to Hadano, Japan numerous times where she made many lifelong friends, and even hosting a student in her home for several years. The Pasadena Philharmonic Society crowned her Queen of the Mardi Gras Ball for her fundraising efforts for the musical scholarship fund.

Coming from a gospel singing family, her life was filled with music, As an active member of the Memorial Baptist church choir, she was involved in many musical events and a singing group performing at local churches and nursing homes.

Marcella, preceded in death by husband James Harris, and is survived by her daughters, Sherry Scruggs, (late husband Lee Royce) Jamye Dudley Sutherland, (husband Larry), Sons, Max Harris (wife Gin), Joe Harris (wife Sonia)

Grandchildren, Bryan Dudley (wife Stephanie) Alissa Newell (husband Clark) Jeremy Scruggs (wife Erica), the late Monty Scruggs (wife Carrie Scruggs), Christina Bussard (husband Casey) Michelle Harris, Justin Harris, Jerry & Rosie Bonuz & family-in love

Great grandchildren, Kellie LIndenmoyer, (husband Jeff) Alana and Brianna Dudley, Cassadie, Jadyn and Jace Newell, Jake Scruggs (wife Lauren) Clayton Scruggs (wife Megan) Cody Scruggs (wife Kaylee), Corbin, Carter, Caden and Callie Scruggs

Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed, the world was a brighter place with her in it, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved and adored her.  When recently asked by so many, what was the secret to her long life?  Her reply was…."Love, lots of love"

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday May 5th, 2025 at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd., Houston Texas 77089. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a beautiful life, sharing stories and memories at 11:00am, the service will begin at 12:00pm., Internment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038.
