With deep love, admiration, and endless gratitude, we remember and honor the remarkable life of our beautiful mother, Luu Thi Nguyen — a devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother — who passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.

Born in Bùi Chu, Việt Nam, Mom was the embodiment of kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering resilience. For 60 beautiful years, she shared an unbreakable bond with our father, Ban Việt Nguyễn. Together, they raised ten children with love, discipline, and sacrifice. In 1975, amid the chaos of war, our parents made the courageous decision to flee their homeland, carrying nothing but faith, hope, and the clothes on their backs. Their journey by boat eventually brought them to Houston, Texas — a journey that will forever be etched in our hearts as a powerful reminder of Mom's courage and perseverance.

Mom was the heart and soul of our family. Her kitchen was always warm and filled with the comforting aromas of homemade meals crafted with love. Her legendary giò lụa (Vietnamese ham) was a family favorite — carefully prepared and generously shared with friends and relatives. Her green thumb transformed our backyard into a flourishing garden, where everything she touched seemed to grow with ease. She nurtured her family not just with food, but with her gentle presence and steadfast devotion.

She loved us deeply and showed that love in countless ways — in quiet sacrifices, in sleepless nights, and in the way she insisted on caring for her grandchildren herself, never wanting to send them to daycare. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Through her words, actions, and unshakable faith, she taught them (and all of us) the values of compassion, generosity, and belief in something greater.

Mom's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She prayed daily, attended mass faithfully, and alongside our dad, helped found the Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Their hearts and hands helped build the church we now call home. Just days before her passing, Mom was able to enjoy the church's annual crawfish festival with her family — smiling, laughing, and surrounded by those who loved her.

Family was everything to Mom.  She has 10 children, 5 son-in-laws, 4 daughter-in-laws, 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  She cherished our weekly Sunday lunches, where laughter echoed and precious memories were made. She loved our family vacations, especially our cruises — each one a joyful chapter in our shared memory. Those moments with her are now priceless treasures we hold close to our hearts.

Mom lived a full and blessed life. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, strength, faith, and service. While we grieve deeply, we take comfort knowing she is now reunited with our dad, the love of her life, and that her spirit lives on in every one of us.

Con yêu Mẹ. Mẹ sẽ mãi mãi ở trong tim con.  We love you, Mom.  You are forever in our hearts.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held 4:00pm-9:00pm, Wedensday, May 21, 2025, and 2:00pm-5:00pm, Thursday, May 22, 2025, both will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089. Mass will be held at 6:30pm, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church, 10610 Kingspoint Road, Houston, Texas 77075. An additional visitation will be held, 4:00pm-9:00pm, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Peevey Funeral Home.

The funeral mass will be held at 8:00am, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church, 10610 Kingspoint Road, Houston, Texas 77075.
