Retired Senior Houston Police Officer Luke Quoc-Thai Ngo was called home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2023, after a lengthy battle with numerous health conditions including congestive heart failure and end-stage renal disease. He was 69 years old.

Born in Hanoi, Vietnam on February 27, 1954, Luke moved with his family as a young child to Saigon, where he grew up. In 1972, he left his beloved Vietnam to attend college at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, where he had been granted a full scholarship and from which he would eventually earn a bachelor's degree in business. Luke's family members came to the United States from Vietnam in 1978, and the entire family soon made their home in Houston, Texas.

Luke entered the Houston Police Academy in 1984 as a cadet, and graduated in 1985 as one of the first Vietnamese police officers in Houston as well as in the nation. After a short period of time working in uniform, Luke was asked to join the Criminal Intelligence Department and work undercover. In his later years with HPD he worked alongside numerous Secret Service teams in protecting visiting U.S. Presidents and their staffs and family members, as well as foreign dignitaries and heads of state from all over the world. He served the citizens of Houston with courage and dedication for 29 years until his retirement in 2014.

Luke is survived by his wife of 15 years Tuyet Nga Le, as well as his sister Bernadette Ngo Huynh (and husband John), his brother John Quoc-Khanh Ngo (and wife Mary), and his brother Gabriel Quoc-Anh Ngo (and friend Kristen Guerrero). Luke is also survived by his former wife Mary E. Ngo and their children Jennifer Ngo Mohtashami (and her husband Vafa), David Quoc-Trung Ngo (and his wife Denise), and Jonathan Quoc-Huy Ngo. Finally, Luke is survived by his grandchildren Bennett, Mia, and Maisie Mohtashami, as well as numerous other dear family members and friends.

Luke is preceded in death by his parents Michael Quoc-Phong Ngo and Katherine Nguyet-Lien Vu Ngo.

Luke's family will hold a visitation for friends and family, from 6pm until 9 pm on Friday, October 13, at Peevey Funeral Home at 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089. A funeral mass will be held at 11am., Saturday, October 14, at the Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church at 10610 Kingspoint Drive, Houston, TX 77075.
