Mrs. Lorinda Alyce "Lori" Herrmann, 69, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

Lori was born the middle child of three to Louis and Alma Mennenga on April 18, 1954, in Belmond, Iowa.  Though Lori lived in Minnesota, California, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas, she always called Iowa home and cheered on her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes - through good seasons and bad.

She married the love of her life, John Patrick Herrmann, on August 27, 1983.  They were blessed with two sons, John Louis (deceased) and Christopher Patrick, as well as one granddaughter, Stella (age 5).  Family time was always Lori's favorite.  During John Louis' and Chris' "wonder years", she was heavily involved in school and church activities.  She even found time to work on the Webster Parks Board – she always claimed the palm trees planted along Medical Center Blvd as her very own.

Music brought joy to Lori's life.  She played the French Horn in High School Band/Orchestra, and she played the piano all her life – she especially loved playing the "Ave Maria" and the Texas Tech and Georgia Tech Alma Maters and Fight songs for her husband, John.  She graduated from Mankato State College and worked as an administrator at Georgia Tech, where she met John.  She enjoyed crafts and sewing, collecting antiques, and collecting rare cups and saucers.  Lori loved shopping and all things classic - from classic cars to classic movies.  She binge-watched "Perry Mason", "Columbo" and "Monk", never tired of the "Wizard of Oz," and especially loved the Christmas season and watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Story" on Christmas Eve and throughout Christmas Day.

Lori's distinctive laugh and love of life will be missed by many, including her husband, John Patrick Herrmann, her son Pvt. Christopher Herrmann (US Army), granddaughter Stella, her sister, Sondra Mennenga-Sellers, and her numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and life-long friends, who enjoyed her loving and welcoming spirit.  In addition to her son, John Louis, she is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Alma Mennenga, and her brother Dwight Mennenga.

Visitation for Lori will be held at Peevey Funeral Home (12440 Beamer) on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm.  Requiem Mass will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church; 4100 State Highway 3 in Dickinson, Texas.  Interment will occur at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacagdoches Road in San Antonio Texas.
