Lonnie Nicholas Johnson, 35, of Pearland, Texas passed away on October 16, 2022.

Nick, a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend was born July 11, 1987, in Houston, Texas to Lonnie Johnson and Barbara Rodriguez. Nick is survived by his loving parents, including Abel Rodriguez, sister Chrystina Leago – husband Trey and nephews Braxton, Jaxon and Nixon Leago, sister Presly Rodriguez, grandparents Jean and Mackie Herring and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Nick is preceded in death by his grandparents – Lonnie C, and Georgia Johnson and Abel C. Rodriguez, Aunt Carol Cheatham, uncles Stevie, Kie and William Cicherski and cousin Robert Parr.

Nick was born premature, but never let this hinder him in his endeavors. Nick shined in many aspects of his life. He excelled in academics winning multiple awards including a high school debate competition on his 1st attempt. Nick graduated Pearland High School and attended San Jacinto College. He was an avid reader and studied multiple disciplines. Nick prided himself on his knowledge of current events and his ability to discuss/debate any topic on a high level.

Nick also excelled on the athletic field, playing soccer, baseball, basketball and football. Even though he was challenged in his early years by his size, he overcame and surpassed any and all expectations utilizing his speed, might and tenacity. Nick played nose guard in football. In basketball, Nick was regularly chosen to defend the opposition's most offensive threat. However, Nick's most loved sport and the one he performed best in was golf. He played regularly and played well. Nick was a scratch golfer and rarely lost.

The following is an excerpt from a posting of one of Nick's closest friends, Adi Mesic, and embodies and highlights Nick as person.
" Nick was an old soul with the heart the size of a planet. Funny, smart, witty family oriented, caring, loving, and profoundly spiritual only paints but a small glimpse into who Nick was as a person. He was the embodiment of the human experience and possessed the will to learn and grow and to love without conditions and barriers. He would gladly give you the shirt off his back even if it was his last. He would offer his bed even if it meant he slept on the floor. He would offer his plate of food even if it meant he would starve. Nick only saw the good in people and never rendered judgement, rather only offered his heart and support."

The world is a better place because of Nick. He will be greatly missed. Nick was very spiritual in many disciplines. He believed in believing. He encouraged everyone he came in contact with to search for their own passions and never lay judgement on anyone else.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home Friday, October 21, at 6:30pm with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, Nick's family and friends ask that donations be made to support individual's passions. Nick would have wanted it no other way.
