On September 8, 2022 the world lost a precious soul…, but Heaven gained one. After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, at the age of 84, the Lord called Lois Flowers home to be with Him. She is survived by her husband Fred L. Flowers, daughter Kathlyn Kaye Gregory, son Stanley Craig Flowers and his wife Terri, granddaughter Chloe' Marie Flowers, grandson Earl David Flowers and his wife Abby, two great grandsons, Elliot and Everest Flowers. She is also survived by one sister, Fannie B. Brown of Kilbourne, Louisiana, and many nieces, nephews and their spouses.

Lois was born July 23, 1938 and is the youngest of 13 Children born to John Lloyd and Claudia Philley of West Carroll Parish in Louisiana; the family grew at a rather rapid pace because her mother had three sets of twins. Two children died in infancy, so Lois grew up with five brothers and five sisters, all of which are now deceased with the exception of Fannie. Lois was born on the Philley family farm a few months after her father died. Her mother steadfastly refused to split the family up, preferring instead to keep them together and support themselves via their small farm. Consequently, all the children had to begin working in the fields at an early age; as a very young girl, Lois learned the value of hard work.

Lois married Fred, her high school sweetheart, in August of 1959 and they have now celebrated 63 years together. It is impossible to exaggerate the depth of love and devotion Lois had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To her, the needs and happiness of others was always more important than her own. She made every member of the family feel extra special. She had a very tender heart for all children, especially those who were underprivileged. For many of her 55 years at Sagemont Church, she taught children, by instruction and example. Because of her loving, caring attitude and the attention she gave them, children were instantly attracted to her and reciprocated that love. She was the 'favorite aunt' of many of her nieces and nephews.

Because of her genuine respect and love for others Lois attracted friends like flies to honey; she had more close friends than anybody I know. She made everyone feel as though they were extra special and she seemed to think of all friends in those terms. She treated everyone with dignity and respect, never judging or criticizing those who needed emotional support. She never formally studied psychology but she somehow had great wisdom and insight into people's psyche and what makes them tick. One of her favorite pastimes was people watching; she could sit in a crowded shopping mall and be amused for hours.

Unfortunately for all who knew her, the Alzheimer's, diagnosed in 2015, slowly began to quench her spirit and destroy most of those characteristics mentioned above. Initially she could, with assistance, perform most activities necessary for daily living. But in her final months she could do none of those things, including speaking. So, on September 8, 2022, God, in His infinite love and mercy, answered the prayers of her family by calling her home. She is today rejoicing with her parents and siblings, in a completely renewed body and mind. Rest in peace Loisie girl… you earned it.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 14th, at 10:30am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
