Leroy Stanley, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Leroy was born on November 4, 1936, in Personville, Texas, to James "Arthur" and Ollie Stanley. He spent his early childhood there with his older brother, James, before the family moved to Woodlake, Texas.

At the age of 14, Leroy moved to Baytown, Texas, where he worked construction with family.  A few years later, infatuated with tow boats, he got a job as a deckhand. A fast learner with a strong work ethic, he quickly advanced through the ranks and eventually became a captain. He later settled in Pasadena, Texas, where he put down roots and built both his life and career. In the 1960s, Leroy purchased his first boat and began building his own successful businesses, including Pasadena Towing and Old River Fleet, turning his lifelong passion for the water into a thriving enterprise.

Throughout his career, Leroy was known for his determination, leadership, and integrity. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of all who worked alongside him.

Leroy was deeply committed to his community. In 2001, he was elected to represent his home district as a Pasadena City Councilman, serving two terms. He was also a Lifetime Vice President of the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he proudly supported local youth. His generosity and willingness to help others were unmatched.

Above all, Leroy was a devoted father and grandfather who dearly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother; and his nephew, David.

Leroy is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Paul) Leteff; his son, Wendell (Amy) Stanley; and his three grandchildren, Haley, Colby, and Addisyn Stanley, along with extended family members and many friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends at Peevey Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, with the service to follow at 2:00pm. A reception will be held at Ernie's from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Interment will follow on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00am at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas.
