Leola "Le" Mae (Cobb) Owens, 88, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Le was born on April 21, 1936 in Odell, Nebraska. Her family moved to Marysville, Kansas, where she graduated from Marysville High School. She was very active throughout her high school years and was president of the pep club. She also played softball and loved to sing and play the piano. She met her husband, Bob, during high school and they got married on February 10, 1955. After graduating high school, Le worked at United of Omaha Insurance Company for several years. They soon started a family and had 3 children. The family transferred to Houston in 1965. Le was a homemaker for 7 years and then began working for Prudential Insurance Company. The family then moved to Pearland in 1974. She started working for UT Health Science Center/Hermann Hospital in 1984 and worked there for 28 years, until she retired at the age of 74. During her years with Hermann Hospital, she climbed the corporate ladder and was promoted to assistant director over 4 large clinics. She then became administrative manager of personnel and was in charge of 20 outpatient clinics.

Even though Le had numerous medical issues over the years, she was a very strong person and never complained. She always had a smile on her face and was always concerned about others. She was a wonderful mother and Mimi who deeply loved her family. You always knew where you stood with her and she had a witty sense of humor that would sometimes catch you off guard, even to the very end.

She is preceded in death by her husband, of 48 years, George "Bob" Owens; her parents Ivan and Mary (Schulz) Cobb and brother-in-law Darrell McMahon.

She is survived by her children; daughter Shelley Lawrence, son Mickey Owens and his wife Dana,  daughter Joni Owens and her husband James Martin; grandson Weldon Lawrence, granddaughter Amy Bogs and her husband Buster, grandson Michael Martin and his wife Schauntae; great-grandchildren Sarah Bogs, Cyrus Martin, Eleanor Martin, Adeline Martin, and Emery Martin; sister Marilyn McMahon; brother Dean Cobb; niece Kay Legg and nephew Gavin Cobb.

Le will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A service honoring Le's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 10, 2025 at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, TX 77089, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow.
