Lee Roy Vaughn, 95, passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, TX on February 19, 2022, held in love by his family and friends. Lee Roy was predeceased by his father Barry A. Vaughn, mother Ruby May Brown Vaughn, brother Larkin Boman, sister Nina Norman, granddaughter Stormy Campbell and grandson Bailey Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Robylene Johnson Vaughn and his three children Gilda Campbell, Juanise Purvis, and Paul Vaughn and his sons-in-law Lee Campbell and Bill Purvis.

Lee Roy was born in Murchison, Texas, October 20, 1926 and lived in Pasadena, TX for 68 years with his beautiful and loving wife where they raised their three children and developed numerous cherished friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Lee Roy loved entertaining family and friends in their home including his nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Holidays and family celebrations weren't complete until the extensive family gathered at Lee Roy's house for a hearty feast which would often include vegetables and fruit from his own garden where he labored with love to bring sustenance for the family from the earth.

His dedication to his garden reflected his devotion and loyalty to his family, his faith, and his country. Lee Roy served in the Merchant Marines during World War II where he was nicknamed "The Deacon" by his crewmates for reading his Bible every night while out at sea. He utilized his training through the Merchant Marines to start a career working as a marine engineer on ships which led to a successful career working as a maintenance foreman for Shell Oil Company where he retired after 37 years.

In addition to being a wonderful provider for his family, Lee Roy was very faithful and an active member of Southmore Baptist Church and most recently South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX. Since moving to Fort Worth three years ago, he attended Castleberry Baptist Church. Lee Roy also enjoyed playing golf with friends which he did regularly for years and was very proud of his two holes in ones. Additionally, Lee Roy loved to travel having visited every continent over his life with family and friends.

We invite all of Lee Roy's loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at South Main Baptist, 4300 East Sam Houston Parkway South, Pasadena, TX on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 12:30 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park, 8513 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX. Lee Roy will be dearly missed and always remembered.
