Larry Doyle Muse (August 17, 1946 - December 9, 2025) passed away and joined his wife of 53 years (Toni Muse) in heaven, leaving a lifetime of wonderful memories for so many family and friends who knew him.  Larry will be remembered as a fantastic fisherman & story teller, a "this is what we need to do" task master and an even better husband, father, grandpa and friend.

Larry leaves behind his son, Jason Muse, his wife Laurie and his 4 grandchildren Lyndon, Devon, Luke and Elle. Stepbrother Tommy James, Nieces Dee Dee Aldana, Lynea Clark, Denise Carlson, Nephew Bill Dideon and Sister-In law's Waldine Ross and her Husband Jack Sr., Beverly Phillips, Betty-Sue Bradley and husband Curtis Sr. Nephew's Jack Ross Jr and wife Elon, Joe David Phillips and wife Carolyn, Curtis Bradley Jr. and his niece Tonya Bentley and husband Ellis. Larry is also survived by so many more family members and friends.

Son of Doyle Muse and Lilly "Lorene" Burris, dad grew up in Long Beach, California as a quintessential "surfer dude".  While growing up, dad spent most of his time in the water surfing or on the water in a fishing boat, starting first as a tuna boat deck hand and quickly moving up to captain before he was 20 years old.  Larry's passion for fishing was instilled in him very early and this passion would continue throughout his entire life and many of my best memories with dad were on the water.

Larry was drafted for Vietnam not long after his 21st birthday.  Like so many who were drafted or who choose to serve in the armed forces, it was life changing.   Larry being drafted into the Army 100% changed his life.  Dad's boating experience led to him being selected as a river boat captain and the stories he told about the year spent in Vietnam could keep you captivated for hours.  Being in the Army, completing basic training and preparing to leave for Vietnam would also grant my father his greatest gift, my mom, Toni Muse.   While in Virginia, just before leaving for Vietnam Larry and a friend spotted Toni and my Aunt Deanie at a drive-in burger stand.  It was love at first sight, courtship over just a few weeks, an actual marriage proposal by mail (by dad) followed by a wedding in Hawaii while Larry was on a 5-day R&R that led to a 53-year commitment through richer or poorer, sickness and in health.

Returning home, Toni and Larry gave California a quick try and realized that Texas was the place they needed to call home.  Larry quickly found work in Houston as a Boiler Maker at a Chemical Plant.  While Larry didn't have a college degree, he had an engineer's mind which would serve him well throughout a successful career as a project manager building LNG plants for Halliburton throughout the world for many years prior to his retirement.

Larry Doyle Muse was quite simply the "greatest fisherman I ever knew".  Whether it was tying his 18-month-old son (me) to a stringer in a life jacket to go wade fishing or right up until his last day before becoming ill, rigging baits to go offshore fishing, Larry simply loved to go fishing!  Larry's passion for working hard, fishing, hunting and attempting to perfect all that's necessary to be good at those things, provided a lifetime of fulfillment for both him and those who got to experience it with him.    Larry will be remembered as the greatest dad, husband, uncle, grandfather and friend you could ask for and we will all cherish the thousands of outstanding memories he gave us.  We will all miss you and know that you were loved so very much by so many.

The visitation and receiving of friends will be held Wednesday, December 17, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, the funeral service will follow at 2:00pm, at Peevey Funeral Home;12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, TX 77089. For those that wish to attend, interment will be held at Forest Park East Cemetery; 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
