Larry Jay Campbell beloved son, father and friend went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2022. He was born in EL Dorado, Kansas on October 11th, 1953, to Wanda Sue Thompson and Monte Max Campbell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Clinton Wayne Campbell, Grand Mother Del-Ray Robertson, Grand Father Perry Campbell and Step-Grand Father Al Robertson. Larry is survived by daughters Kerry Johnston and Koren Campbell, Son Monte Campbell and wife Elissa, son Taylor Campbell, Mother Carolyn Campbell, Aunt Linda Lou Campbell, Sister Connie Goudy and husband Michael, sister Carla Clark and husband Harold, grandchildren Ashton Johnston, Landon Johnston, Carson Prahm, Keagan Prahm, Payton Campbell, Jayden Campbell, Kensley Sue Campbell, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.

Larry lived a life of adventure and experienced life at its fullest. He grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from Dobie High School in 1973, after being named Mr. J Frank Dobie his senior year. After Highschool Larry enlisted in the Army, then after his Army Days, Larry worked in the port of Houston for years in the trucking business and built many friendships.

Larry loved spending his free time with his family at their ranch in Coldspring. Larry was a true cowboy, he loved riding horses and taming cattle. When he got older, he loved watching his old western movies to remind him of those hey days. Larry always wanted his kids to know how much he loved them and wasn't afraid to show them with a big ole "sugar", he was the king of them.

Of the many titles Larry had, Grandad was his favorite. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed spoiling them and the many trips to the candy store. Larry spent his later years, drinking coffee, watching Houston sports and enjoying precious time with his friends and family.

The visitation will be held Monday, January 17th, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston TX 77089. The service celebrating Larry's life will also be held at Peevey Funeral Home Tuesday, January 18th, at 10am; interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007.
