Larry Dale Blacksmith, born May 1, 1957, in Kirksville, Missouri, was tragically taken from us on July 15, 2025. A man of profound kindness, unwavering faith, and humble strength, Larry lived a life anchored in service, generosity, and love.

After graduating high school, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed in Germany. In 1978, he began a distinguished career in law enforcement with the Harris County Sheriff's Department, dedicating 40 years to protecting and uplifting his community. Even after retirement in 2018, Larry continued his mission by joining the Lakeview Police Department — a reflection of his belief that every person deserved compassion, respect, and a helping hand.

Larry had a heart as open as the roads he loved to ride. Whether fishing under Texas skies, caring for animals in need, or lending the shirt off his back to a stranger, his acts of kindness were countless and often quiet — but never unnoticed. His deep Christian faith guided every step of his journey, and he saw the goodness in everyone he met.

Larry had an extensively inquisitive mind. Always convinced he had found a new treasure. He devoted countless hours to finding miscellaneous antiquities. He consistently saw the hidden value in everyday items. He saw beauty in rust and a story in every chip and stain on antiques. His compassion extended to displaying these items around the house for all to see.

Larry adored his family. He was a devoted husband and a fiercely proud father who celebrated his children's accomplishments with heartfelt joy and unwavering support. His love for them was the cornerstone of his life — and their successes were his greatest reward.

Most importantly, Larry loved God. He dedicated his life to his Christian faith and in his final years, took important steps towards becoming closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the son of the most high God and our Father in Heaven. His faith in Christ guided him throughout his time on this earth and now he sleeps awaiting the time to arise and reign alongside Christ, to receive the crown of righteousness bestowed to all who remain steadfast in faith to Christ till the end.

He is preceded in death by his father Harold, mother Shirley, and brother David Blacksmith. He is survived by his loving wife, Cirena; his children, Christopher, Matthew, and Natalie Blacksmith; and by extended family, friends and fellow officers who considered him family, both by blood and by badge.

Larry's life will be celebrated on July 23, 2025, at noon at Grace Community Church — not just with sorrow, but with gratitude for a man who gave so much and asked for so little.
